Losar break events

Losar, the Tibetan New Year, is approaching and after having worked hard for a number of weeks, we Shedra students look forward to a time of relaxation, inspiration, and adventure. Some of us will stay in the Kathmandu valley, while others will take to the mountains to find out what their bodies are still capable of performing when it comes to hiking on snowy trails in the Himalayas. Whoever will remain in the city of Kathmandu will find plenty of opportunities to celebrate the new Tibetan year on the 14th of February, which is also the day for all the lovers out there! For those in Pharping the day will begin with an early morning practice led by Khenpo Namdrol.

In addition to the Losar festivities, there are two main events happening in Kathmandu next week that would be of interest for students of Sogyal Rinpoche and Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche’s clan:

On February 17th Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will inaugurate the Tergar Osel Ling monastery as a Shedra, which was held previously by his brother Tsoknyi Rinpoche. From the 18-20th Mingyur Rinpoche and Tsoknyi Rinpoche together will give teachings on Cultivating Wisdom & Compassion. For more information please click here.

In the continuous flow of blessings the opening ceremony of  Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche 2010 Centenary Celebrations takes place at Shechen Monastery in Boudhanath from the 20-22th. The creme dé la creme of Rinpoches and Lamas will be present, so don’t miss it!
